What is Moisture Absorber?
Moisture absorbers are products capable of extracting water vapor from the air, thus helping to prevent condensation forming on containerized cargo packaged materials.
Considered a desiccant, drop-in pouches regulate moisture and sustain dryness. They are designed to absorb condensation or "cargo sweat" inside international oceanic shipping containers and secondary packaging to prolong, protect and preserve supplies or delicate items along the supply chain.
Typically, heat sealed, pouches are filled with a proprietary blend of non-toxic moisture absorbing granules that induces or sustains a state of dryness in any environment inside its sealed vicinity.
Moisture Absorbers – How They Work
The factors that determine the rate of absorption are temperature and humidity
A solidified mass is part of the absorption process and not a product fault and indicates that the beads are absorbing excess moisture
The beads will dissolve at a slower rate when there is less excess moisture in the air
When there is eventually enough excess moisture in the air the beads will dissolve and the solidified mass will turn to water.
Types of Moisture Absorbers
Silica Gel
Silica Gel is a moisture absorber made from sodium silicate. It has a high specific surface area which makes it a very powerful desiccant or drying agent. Its name may be misleading because this form of silica is actually solid, produced in a beaded or granular form.
Clay Absorbers
Clay absorbers offer a cheap alternative to absorbing moisture in a home or in any other space where moisture leads to molds. Its moisture absorption property is very low as compared to the other two types. For heavily humid areas, clay absorbers are not recommended.
Calcium Chloride
Perhaps the best moisture combatant is calcium chloride, a mixture of chlorine and calcium. Calcium chloride is usually used in shipping goods and does a good job in keeping these goods dry during the whole duration of the trip. For very humid basements, kitchens, cabinets, closets, and other spaces, calcium chloride does provide effective moisture absorption.
Advantages of Moisture Absorbers
Controls Moisture Levels
A moisture absorber is the perfect solution against excess moisture in the home. The room air will be pleasant and it will help you to achieve a healthy moisture level at home.
Helps Prevent Mould and Mildew from Growing
By placing a moisture absorber inside the room, you help decrease the moisture in the air and as a result – help stop the mould from growing. It helps prevent your ceilings from becoming black and paint and wallpaper from peeling off thanks to a balanced indoor moisture level.
Improves Well-being
Excess moisture in your house can have unpleasant effects on the well-being of you and your family. A moisture absorber will help to reduce the excess moisture, thus making the air more pleasant to breathe.
Step One: Remove the desiccant dehumidifier from its outer package to activate it.
Step Two: Place your desiccant packet in the container with your goods. Ensure to use an appropriate number spread throughout the area.
Step Three: Seal your packaging and let the moisture absorber work its magic.
Helpful Hints
●If you need to store or protect items beyond the 60-day threshold, simply add a few more bags to the treated area!
●Our desiccants are air activated and it's very important to keep any unused desiccants air tight. A moisture barrier or vacuum seal bag is preferred.
●To insure peak protection, if possible check pouches during hot, humid weather or when temperatures are regularly fluctuating.
How to Choose Moisture Absorber
Size and Capacity
First, consider the size and capacity of the desiccant bag. A larger bag will be able to absorb more moisture, ensuring that your books and belongings stay dry and well-preserved.
01
Moisture Absorption Efficiency
Some desiccants can absorb more moisture than others. A high-quality desiccant will effectively remove excess humidity from your storage space, preventing mold, mildew, and other moisture-related issues.
02
Reusability and Lifespan
Some desiccants can be reactivated, allowing for multiple uses before needing to replace them. Reusable desiccants are more cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and practical than single-use ones.
03
Safety and Eco-friendliness
Ensure that the product you're considering is non-toxic and safe for use around people and pets. Additionally, look for eco-friendly options made from natural or sustainable materials to reduce your environmental impact.
04
Indicator Features
Some desiccant bags come with moisture indicators. These indicators notify you when the bag has reached its moisture absorption capacity and needs to be replaced.
05
Certificate
We had passed the ISO9001:2015, ISO14001:2015, BSCI, GMP and Walmart audits. Our products comply with RoHS certification and other certificates.
